“O Come All Ye Faithful” was originally written in Latin and was given the title, “Adeste Fideles.” It was written by John Francis Wade, who was an 18th Century hymnist. It was translated into English in 1841 by a Pastor named Frederick Oakley.
The first line of the Carol can really feel like a “gut punch” to us. Many times, especially during the busy Christmas season, we can feel anything but faithful, joyful and triumphant. In fact, some may feel defeated, depressed or doubtful.
Carol together, it is a worthwhile question As we look at this Carol together, it is a worthwhile question to ask, “who is it that Jesus calls?” And the good news is it's not just the faithful, joyful, and triumphant that Jesus is calling for.
Matthew 19: 12-13
Weary…Burdened…Sinners Jesus came to call us all, but thankfully He doesn’t desire to leave us that way! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” - 2 Corinthians 5:17
1.) Jesus helps us become more faithful. - Hebrews 12:2 2.) Jesus helps us become more joyful. - Luke 2: 10-11 - Galatians 5:22 3.) Jesus helps us become more triumphant. - Isaiah 9: 6-7 - Hebrews 12:28
“O Come All Ye Faithful” Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing; O come, let us adore Him!

“O Come All Ye Faithful” Revelation 15: 2-4 Sing, choirs of angels, Sing in exultation, Sing, all ye citizens of Heaven above; Glory to God, Glory in the highest; O come, let us adore Him!
As we all (as individuals, families, and as a church) choose to seek after Jesus this Christmas…to choose to behold & adore Him for all that He is and has done for us; I firmly believe that God will infuse us with the faith and joy that we need to live triumphant lives for Him!
