Unrest and Revolt in Texas

Law of April 6th, 1830 Mexico passed the law of April 6, 1830 in response to the Mier y Teran report. There was to be no more immigration from the United States into Texas. Slavery was outlawed in Texas. Settlers had to pay taxes on goods brought from the United States. Mexican troops were sent to Texas to enforce laws.

Turtle Bay Resolutions Resolved That we view with feelings of the deepest interest, and solicitude, the firm manly resistance, which is made by the highly talented and distinguished Cheiftan [sic] —General Santa Anna, to the numberless encroachments and infractions, which have been made by the present administration, upon the Constitution and laws of our adopted and beloved country. The purpose of the Turtle Bayou Resolutions was to align themselves with Santa Anna.

“Victory or Death” The Travis Letter These were the words penned in the Famous Travis Letter, Written by: William B. Travis He wrote this letter with the purpose of asking for Reinforcements.

Battle of The Texas Revolution Most major battles of the Texas Revolution took place in the Gulf Coastal Plains. As each battle progressed Mexican Troops found themselves, Moving further and further away from the Mexican Capitol.

The Siege of the Alamo The Siege of the Alamo took place during the revolutionary area in Texas.

Battle of Gonzales This battle was fundamental in the fight for Texas independence , even though only one Mexican Soldier died the battle did one very important thing for the Texas Army; It proved to Texans that the Mexican army could be defeated and independence achieved.

Battle of Coleto Creek James Fannin surrendered and was executed at the Battle of Coleto creek along with his men. The Physical Geography of Coleto creek contributed to the substantial loss of life at this battle because The open prairie allowed the Mexican army to surround Fannin and his men.

The Battle of San Jacinto The Battle of San Jacinto happened on April 21, 1836. 1836 is an important year in Texas History because it is when Texas Gained independence from Mexico.

The Texas Declaration of Independence The Author of the Texas Declaration of Independence was George Childress. The Document was written at Washington on the Brazos. In March of 1836 delegates met at Washington on the Brazos to ultimately Establish and Independent Government.

The Republic of Texas With the establishment of the Republic of Texas Citizens were granted certain rights, one of those rights was the Freedom of Religion.
