Chapter 8 The Baker Street Irregulars As we continue to read make sure you: Listen carefully Use your glossary to check any key words as we go along Put your hand up and ask if there are any extra words we need to add to our glossary Read to: the end of the chapter

The Baker Street Irregulars Think – pair - share What effect do you think the use of Athelney Jones and the Baker Street Irregulars has on the reader’s impression of Sherlock’s abilities?

LO: Continue to understand and memorise quotes from ‘The Sign of Four’ This exam as a CLOSED BOOK exam – that means you will NOT have the book in front of you during the exam. Because of this, we need to learn quotes. For each chapter we have read so far find two important quotes. Using a page in your books display these quotes in a way that will help you remember them – memory techniques include using colour and pictures etc. Remember – you need to be able to analyse language for the exam, so quotations that you can explode for a 5 star paragraph are best. Last time we did this was for chapter 5 – now find quotes for chapters 6-8.

‘The Sign of Four’ Chapter 8 – The Baker Street Irregulars Learning Objective Should: Read and understand chapter 8 of ‘The Sign of Four’ – The Baker Street Irregulars Could: Understand what the Baker Street Irregulars were and why Conan Doyle included them. Might: Continue to understand and memorise quotes from ‘The Sign of Four’

Homework Should: Test yourself and ask others to test you on how well you have memorised the key quotes so far. Could: Use the explosion sheet (find it on the L drive) to explode your key quotations. Might: Add your key quotations to your quotation poster from previous homework
