Solving Equations With One Variable By: Kaitlin Ratigan

Equations & Expressions Equations are a mathematical sentence that states the equality of two quantities. Expressions can be written using numbers, operation symbols and variables. No equal signs.

Step 1: Distributing 3(7x+6)=60 3 x 7x 3 x 6 21x + 18=60 You want to take 3 x 7x. Then take 3 x 6. Then you get 21x + 18= 60.

Step 2 : Getting the numbers on one side together 21x + 18= 60 -18 -18 You want to take 18 – 18. Then you want to take 60 – 18. What you do to one side you must do to the other.

Step 3: Getting The Answer 21x = 42 21 X = 2 You want to get x by itself. So take 21x divided by 21. Then take 42 divided by 21. So x = 2
