Weekly Classroom Newsletter October 25, 2013 Weekly Classroom Newsletter Laura Sawyer lsawyer@methacton.org 610-489-5000 ext. 42506 or 43109 UPCOMING EVENTS A Glance at our Week Sight Word: my Ask us each day how we had to spell our sight words. Letters: I and S This week we learned the letter I for igloo, iguana, and insect. We also learned the letter S for snake, snow, and school. As a class we practiced these letters on Starfall and did many activities to practice the letter sounds and how to write these letters. Math: Numbers, patterns, & counting. To start off our week we practiced reading numbers and counting by playing a game with a partner. We then went back to practicing with patterns. As a class we made some patterns then we went back to our seats and made them using pattern blocks. Were also still working on counting. We played some games together as a class before reading Ten in a Bed, which focused on counting backwards. Finally it is time to start learning how to write numbers. ELA This week we had our fire drill which was delayed from Fire prevention week. So we read The Big Red Fire Truck and discussed the importance of a fireman’s job. Later in the week we read, How Full is Your Bucket, and discussed ways we can be nice to our friends. To end our week we read Bee Bim Bop. An extremely fun story about a mother and daughter making a fun recipe. These recipes will be sent home with you today!
