The Southwest is unique because of the people and culture such as

Cowboys Native Americans Other Americans that moved westward

The Native Americans of the southwest planted crops such as corn and beans. (15) Cowboys are still a big part of the southwestern culture. (15) Many Native Americans used the soil of the region to make homes out of adobe bricks. (15) Many Mexican Americans live in the southwest. (24) Many Americans began moving westward in the 1800s. (18)
