Canto 13 7th circle, second Ring. Those who are punished here are those who have committed suicide and squanderers. The ones who have committed suicide are made into trees, while the squanders roam the woods constantly chased by dogs.
Summary Dante and Virgile now travel through the middle ring of the seventh circle were those who have committed violence are punished. The woods are dark with no light or leaves made of dead trees that sprout were ever fate casts the soul

People Dante tears a branch from a tree, the branch held the soul of Pier della Vigna, minister to the emperor Frederick II, he had committed suicide and was sent to the seventh circle by Minos.
Characters Dante also meets Lano and Jacopo da Santo Andrea, who are also sent to the seventh circle for destroying their possessions. They are chased and dismembered by dogs for committing these crimes that destroyed their own lives
