Jacob and Wes live with their father Hollis Jacob and Wes live with their father Hollis. Their mother died in a road accident. At the beginning of the story, Jacob and his friends smash the car of a rival football team. Subsequently, Jacob has to go to juvenile detention. His hobby is motor biking but Hollis takes his bike away as a form of punishment. Two representatives of the Child Protective Services visit Holiss’s house and after seeing the mess and noticing the fact that Holiss drinks too much, they decide to put Wes in Pam’s care – Pam is Holiss’s sister-in-law. This makes Jacob very sad. It also makes him angry with his father because he thinks that he is responsible for the loss of his custody of Wes. During a motor bike race Jacon runs off course in a curve and arrives last. Pam tells Holiss that she plans to move to Houston because she
