“Hit That Rock” Numbers 20
Challenges Moses Faced [Numbers 20:1-5] “Fell On Their Faces” “Take The Rod” [Numbers 20:8] “Struck The Rock Twice” [Numbers 20:11] “Because You Have Not Believed Me” [Numbers 20:12]
What’s The Big Deal?! “A test of respect for Divine Authority & violation of such reveals in our hearts a spirit of disobedience.” Such reason why people who appear to be sincere believers can at the same time be rebels in relation to God’s Word. [Matt. 7:22,23]
Lessons To Be Learned [Romans 15:4] This study gives us a clear picture of how we are to regard God’s instructions. [2 Tim. 2:15 ; Matt. 5:17,18] How a command is carried out is extremely important to God. “Speaking to the rock excluded all other options”. We are expected to obey.
Conclusion With Application [Instrumental Music] God commanded us to “sing” in Eph. 5:19 & Col. 3:16. Argument: The command to “sing” does not exclude instrumental music; that is, we can sing “and play”. Clearly this is not how God viewed His commands in the past; has it changed?! [1 John 1:8-10]
