Cathaoirleach’s Award Recognition of special service of an individual/group in their community - 6 areas COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT ENVIRONMENT AND HERITAGE CHILDREN AND YOUTH EQUALITY AND SOCIAL INCLUSION SPORTING ACHIEVEMENT ACTIVE ELDERLY Award not funding

Community Project of the Year Award Encourage and assist a Community Group to undertake a significant project in their community. Must prove it can bring benefit and greatly improve community. €10,000 available under this category , can be given to 1 – 3 groups.

Age Friendly Recognition Award Age Friendly Recognition Award is a National competition which is directed towards recognising improvements by local communities/groups and agencies to make Ireland a “Better Place in which to Grow Old”. Categories Outdoor Spaces and Buildings Transportation Housing Respect and Social Inclusion Social Participation Communication and Information Civic Participation and Employment Community Support and Health Services Nominated and supported to enter the National Age Friendly Recognition Awards

STEM Grant – Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics Grant New category introduced in 2018 to demonstrate WCC interest in the promotion of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) in the county. Recognising the contribution these subjects can make to future economic development. Awards may be made to groups or individuals who undertake innovative projects to promote these subject areas among secondary school children, either within the school, community or the wider area. Maximum grant for a project will be €500

Tidy Towns Awards Awards based on results from previous year Overall County Winner – highest marks in the County -€5,000 Award Municipal District Winners – highest marks in the Municipal District other than Overall county winner - €4,000 Award Second highest mark in each Municipal District - €2,500 Endeavour Award - Most improved in each of the Municipal Districts from previous year’s marks - excluding any winners in the three previous categories (a-c)€2,000 Award
