Presentation transcript:

Bell Ringer: Wednesday, April 25th The most important thing my parents/guardians have taught me is _____________________.... Keeping with the theme of I’m Down and the ‘influence of another’ (specifically parents), reflect on this. Remember that many lessons from parents are not OVERT. For example, perhaps they taught you something using what they did NOT say.

Make a t-chart… On the left side, start by answering… How has her father played a major role in the writer’s life? In what way/s? Consider short and long-term effects. This is your “Y” On the right side, list specific ways that the author has conveyed the importance of this individual. Include at least 2 quotations and page numbers. This is your “X” At the bottom of your t-chart, use your “X”s and “Y”s to come up with a strong THESIS statement.

Diction Page 11 – “Daaaaaaaang.” Why does this passage stand out? What does it reveal about the author’s style, tone, and/or experiences?

Defining moment… Select a passage that could be considered a defining moment in the writer’s life. What happened? How did it affect her? Does the writer feel different about it since the event or experience occurred?
