Campfire News Around the Campfire Week of April 8-12, 2019 Camp Spanish Phrase of the Week is: Equilibrados (balanced) Inquiry into Math: We will explore time to the hour and half-hour on both digital and analog clock. Inquiry into Literacy: We will explore the elements of fairy tales both this week and next. We will read a variety of the traditional versions of these stories, along with the ”fractured” fairy tale versions as well. Letterland Unit 26: Students will learn that y can represent long /e/ at the end of words. This happens in a great many words of more than one syllable. Children will sort the words by the vowel sound in the first syllable (Example: easy, tiny, and puppy).Writer’s Workshop: We will practice responding to journal prompts related to spring this week, in our writing notebooks. Inquiry into Science: We will continue to explore the idea of force. We will explore the effect of a given force on the motion of an object. Inquiry into Social Studies: We will explore how how the environment impacts where people live (urban, rural, weather, transportation, etc.).
