EXPOSITION NOTES

William Golding: born England 1911 Father: “reason rather than experience is a necessary and reliable means through which to gain knowledge and understand the world” Conflict: fear of the dark, emotional responses Golding taught schoolboys and wrote in opposition to / parody of the “perfect” images portrayed in contemporary novels.
