Newman Court The Residents’ Journey Joanna Evans

Development Total scheme cost: £11m Funding: £3,184,000 - Department of Health £695,000 - Hampshire County Council £3,862,500 - Sales income £3,258,500 - Saxon Weald Scheme developed in partnership with Basingstoke and Deane and Hampshire CC Grant secured from the Department of Health Some initial concern about volume of SOE units (30) however sales were strong and interest remains high. Jo I have stripped out the impact of the fire as this makes un-due complication, but you may wish to mention it as we suffered delays and costs as a result.

Newman Court Newman Court opened in February 2012 and has 64 units in total. It is an extra care site for those aged 55+. 16 one bed and 18 two bed properties are allocated to Basingstoke and Deane housing list. 30 two bed properties are available for purchase. Residents own a 75% share.

Newman Court We have a number of facilities on-site including a therapy suite, hairdresser suite, dining room, 2 lounges and a day centre. Our partners at Newman Court are: Sanctuary Home Care – Care provider Catering Academy – Meal service Hampshire CC – Resource Centre

Sales Newman Court is a very popular scheme, we have a very healthy waiting list all of which are local applicants. We get weekly enquiries about Newman Court and those that go onto the waiting list are assessed. Residents purchase a 75% share which is between £130-140k.

A balanced community We work with all partners to ensure a balanced community of care and support needs within the scheme. We facilitate and help to set up activities and services within the scheme. We encourage family, friends and the wider community to join in activities and set-up new activities here. Regular quarterly meetings with SS, Sanctuary, Basingstoke and Deane and both ourselves and the other nearby EC facility Abbey Court. List a few activities happening at the scheme Talk about Age Concern coming in and Strong and Steady. Monday: Coffee afternoon Tuesday: Better Balance Wednesday: Table Tennis, Holy Communion once a month. Thursday: Age Concern, Quiz Night, Music with Alex. Friday: Steady and strong, Bingo.   All members of the local community are welcome to join all activities via prior arrangement with me, some charge a minimal fee. Restaurant is also available to the local area if booked in advance.

The residents’ journey Mr Donald and Mrs Maureen Cahalarn - moved in on 3rd December 2012 to a 2 bed shared equity property. Mr Frederick and Mrs Joan Tiney – moved in 15th August 2013 to a 2 bed rental property. See pre-written notes.
