OBJECTIVE The Employees' Provident Fund provides social security benefits to Employees of establishments on which the Employees’ Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1952 applies. It is administered by Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in India. The Act mainly provides Retirement or old age benefits such as Provident fund, Superannuation fund, Family Pension, Deposit linked Insurance.

APPLICABILITY The Employees' Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1952 applies to the whole India except Jammu & Kashmir Every establishment which is a factory engaged in any industry specified in Schedule I & in which 20 or more persons are employed. Cooperative Societies employing 50 or more persons and working without aid of power. Cinema theatres employing 5 or more persons.
