PROBATION A Sentence of imprisonment that is suspended A court-ordered period of correctional supervision in the community Generally/sometimes as an alternative to incarceration

PROBATION OFFICERS as a career Education Requirements. Typically, probation officers need a bachelor's or master's degree in behavioral science, criminal justice or social work. Officers usually need a master's degree to advance in the field. Aspiring probation officers may apply to criminal justice programs with concentrations in corrections.

PROBATION OFFICERS CONT’D Probation officers may also be sworn peace officers, but they generally do not carry guns. However each jurisdiction and department that these officers work in would set individual policies, and each jurisdiction is different. The issue of probation officers carrying is controversial.

Parole officers as a career

PAROLE OFFICERS A Parole officer is/can be a dangerous job. So in the Unites States, all parole officers are sworn peace officers permitted by law to carry a gun. In order to become a parole officer, you must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in corrections, psychology, criminal justice, social work, or a related degree. Federal parole officers, however, require applicants to hold master's degrees in one of these areas.

PAROLE OFFICERS CONT’D According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, California parole officers earn some of the highest salaries in the country.  The earn from $5,033 up to $7,437 per month, or between $60,396 and $89,244 per year.

Violation of parole, Penal Code When a person is released from prison on parole, he or she is still considered to be under control of the California Department of Corrections, and is known as a parolee. ... If you violated your parole by breaking the law, then you could be facing two separate issues: a criminal charge and the parole revocation hearing. What is PC 3056? California Penal Code 3056 outlines the rules for parole. It states that prisoners on parole must continue to be under the official supervision of the State. In addition, parolees can be rearrested at any time deemed necessary, during the time they are on parole.
