Problem with Rcda and suggestions for them From WLTP EV SG For Meeting at EU representation 11 am on 9th June (2015)

The current GTR definition of Rcda Rcda: "Charge-depleting actual range" means the distance travelled in a series of WLTCs in charge-depleting operation condition until the rechargeable electric energy storage system (REESS) is depleted. 100 charge-depleting 80 60 SOC (%) 40 charge-sustaining 20 Rcda The distance of a trip With this Rcda, the things in the next page could happen.

Complexity of what Rcda indicates AER type BLENDED type Vehicle + Rcda Rcda AER type vehicle could be converted into BLENDED type by changing its control strategy without changing its hardware. As the consequent, Rcda could be extended easily.

Suggestion for the development of test procedure of Rcda in phase 1b Decision on Rcda in high levels EV SG leader’s suggestion Case 1) to maintain Rcda to postpone the development to phase 2 We already have a solution deal with Rcda, especially for the interpolation approach. Thus, we could complete the development during phase 1b. On the other hand, reflecting the solution to the gtr will be hard work because of the complexity. Case 2) to withdraw Rcda to cancel the development We should focus on the other issues to be completed in phase 1b. (REMINDER: EAER could be the alternative of Rcda.) Case 3) to suspend Rcda In this case, the priority of Rcda becomes lower than other remaining issue. Thus, we should focus on the other issues during phase 1b.
