Preschool Focus Area 2 2.2 – I Have an Amazing Body Date: Begin With Me Focus Area 2 Date: Arkansas Migrant Education Program 2.2 – I Have an Amazing Body Big Ideas: My body has many parts. My body grows and changes. My body can move. A child’s world begins with self and family and gradually extends to the community in which he or she lives. This unit focuses on self. As children explore, they become aware of their unique characteristics. Not only will they learn more about themselves, but about others around them. Teacher Notes: Children are fascinated by their bodies and what they can do. Their bodies are an integral part of who they are – their “self.” When children are given opportunities to enjoy and be successful in experiences involving their bodies, they feel good about themselves and what they are capable of doing. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Activity: Materials: Book Here Are My Hands, by Bill Martin, Jr Chart paper /-ing/ words; vocabulary Butcher paper (to trace student and label parts of body) Music “Do the Hokey Pokey” Lesson Plan:__________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
