The capital of Washington is Olympia. Washington became a state on November 11, 1889.

The state bird of Washington is the willow goldfinch The state bird of Washington is the willow goldfinch. The state flower of Washington is rhododendron.

The state tree of Washington is the western hemlock The state tree of Washington is the western hemlock. The state nickname of Washington is the Evergreen State. The number of colleges and universities in Washington is 63.

A famous person from Washington is John Elway A famous person from Washington is John Elway. He is a famous quarterback in football. He became famous for leading the Denver Broncos to 2 Superbowl wins before he retired. He is in the Hall of Fame.

Another famous person from Washington is Jonathan Ogden Another famous person from Washington is Jonathan Ogden. He is in the Hall of Fame because he was a great offensive tackle and he was an 11 time Pro Bowl selection.

My favorite college in Washington is Whitman College because I like small schools and this school has 1,510 students. I also like it because it is a 4 year school so that I stay with my friends for all of college.

One thing you can go and do is eat in a tall, tall building called the Space Needle. It is a restaurant that is 605 feet tall. Another thing to do is go to a place called Mount Baker. It’s an active volcano in northwestern Washington.

You can also go to a beautiful place called Olympic National Park where you can explore the wildlife. Another place to go is Mount Rainier, it is another active volcano that is the most dangerous volcano but it is really pretty to look at.

The last place you can visit in Washington is Mount St. Helens The last place you can visit in Washington is Mount St. Helens. It is another volcano, this one erupted in 1982.

A Fun fact of Washington is in 2007 Washington became the first state to ban Texting while driving. Washington also was the first state to have a revolving restaurant in the 48 contiguous United States. SkyCity Restaurant on top of the Space Needle.

Another fun fact is Washington is the only state to be named after a president. Also Washington is the only state with a green field on the flag and the only state with a president on the flag.

My last fun fact is that Washington has the most glaciers in the USA.
