Le comparatif….dare to compare! Is Meghan Fox better than Beyonce? Is Robert Pattinson more handsome than Taylor Lautner? Drake or Kanye?

Le comparatif There are 3 ways to make a comparison, in English and in French. The 3 ways are: –Better than –Worse than –Equal to

Comment dire…? more than… less than…. As..as… Plus que Moins que Aussi que

Ajoute les adjectifs…pourquoi? Adjectives are needed for the comparative. Ex) Bob is smart er than Bill. Chuck Norris is strong er than everyone.

There is no way to say –ER in French though! Bob est PLUS intelligent QUE Bill. Chuck Norris est PLUS fort QUE tout le monde. The adjectives are used with plus que, moins que, aussi que to say – ER! ex) strongER, smartER

Never forget the ACCORDS! With the use of adjectives, you always have to remember to make them M.PL, F.S. or F.PL. Ex) Sally est plus intelligent E que Billy. Sally et Beth sont plus intelligent ES que Billy.

Like math? Think of it this way! To say something is better, or more than, you need: –Noun + être + PLUS + adjective + que + noun To say something is worse, or less than, you need: –Noun + être + MOINS + adjective + que + noun To say something is the same as, you need: –Noun + être + AUSSI + adjective + que + noun

Try making comparisons using the following images:

Robert Pattinson….Taylor Lautner

Léléphant….la baleine

La pizza…….La pomme

Lady Gaga…..P!nk

Crosby…….Ovechkin
