PHOTOSYNTHESIS REVIEW PPT

This is the process using light, water, and carbon dioxide to make stable high energy carbohydrates. PHOTOSYNTHESIS

Organelle where photosynthesis takes place. Chloroplasts

What is the major energy molecule that powers cellular reactions.

Explain the ATP-ADP cycle ATP loses a phosphate to another reaction and becomes ADP, then gains another phosphate from photosynthesis or cellular respiration to become ATP.

Where does photosynthesis start? Thylakoid

What goes into the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis? Water & Light

Oxygen, H+, and electrons What three things does water break down into the light-dependent reactions? Oxygen, H+, and electrons

In photosystem 2, where do the hydrogen ions go, what do they pass through, and what does that produce? Thylakoid ATP synthase ATP

What from the light-dependent reactions goes into the atmosphere? OXYGEN

Light-independent reactions [dark reactions and Calvin cycle] What process uses the energy from ATP and NADPH and the intake of carbon dioxide to make glucose? Light-independent reactions [dark reactions and Calvin cycle]

What comes out of the light-dependent reactions to power the light-independent reactions? ATP & NADPH

What is fed into the light-independent reactions from the atmosphere? Carbon dioxide

What is the final product of photosynthesis? GLUCOSE
