Grading Rubric for Charles Darwin Profile Due Tuesday Nov 19th

Title The title needs to be creative and include some information about the topic of the profile. Topics should include Darwin’s name and his theory of Evolution 5 pts total

Theme The profile (article) should include discussions and explanations of the four major points of Darwin’s theory of Evolution (p 280). They can be in his words, or in the authors words. (either direct quote; quote from someone else; or in the authors own words – Be creative) 20 points total

Direct Quotes from Darwin The profile contains at least 5 direct quotes from a made up interview with Charles Darwin. The quotes are embedded into the article. Quotation marks are used correctly. The quotes are easily transitioned into and out of (they make sense at the spot they are used in the article) 20 points

Direct Quotes from Malthus The profile contains at least one direct quote from Thomas Malthus about either his studies or his opinion or point of few of Darwin’s theories. The quote is some way connected to Darwin and his theory of Evolution 5 points

Direct Quotes from Lamarck The profile contains at least one direct quote from Jean Baptiste Lamarck about either his studies or his opinion or point of few of Darwin’s theories. The quote is some way connected to Darwin and his theory of Evolution 5 points

Vocabulary The article includes all 9 vocabulary terms from CH. 13 sections 1 and 3. The terms are defined correctly or used in the correct context. The words are underlined or highlighted in the profile. They are used in relation to Evolution 10 points

Evolution of Cellular Life The profile discusses the evolution of cells and cellular life outlined in Ch 12 sec 2. Clear statements are made about how the forces and ideas related to Darwins theories are tied to the changes seen in Cellular Life. Includes discussion about changes in the environment that caused the evolution. 15 points

Formatting The final product is typed 12 pt Calibri font, double spaced, normal 1 in margins are used The title is centered, paragraphs are indented correctly. The final draft is brought to class on time, rubric is stapled to the front of the paper. At least 2 pages. 10 points

Grammar and punctuation The paper contains few to no grammatical or spelling errors Appropriate punctuation is used. The article reads easily. 5 points
