Spreadsheet Software An application for entering, calculating, manipulating and analyzing sets of numbers

Tools Included in the Spreadsheet Interface Document window Worksheet Workbook Menu bar Toolbar Formula bar Scroll bars Status bar Cell Click to Enlarge

Cell The intersection of a column and a row You enter data into individual cells

Cell Pointer A rectangle enclosing one cell of a spreadsheet, identifying that cell as active

Cell Address Spreadsheets use row and column identifiers as the basis for cell addresses

Label Name for data value

Value An entered number or a result of a computation

Date Indicates when a worksheet was created. Also used in performing calculations.

Formula Calculates numbers based on values or formulas in other cells

Cell reference Tells a formula to look up the contents of a referenced cell

Range Contiguous cells referenced in a formula

Functions Perform specialized calculations automatically

Argument The value or cell reference that the function uses in its operation
