Question? If you were to write your Will today, what unusual Wish or Possession would you single out for a future Beneficiary?

Wills - History

Wills A will is a formal document that describes how you want your assets distributed after your death. ... If you die without a valid will, a court will appoint someone to administer your estate and distribute the assets according to a formula set out in provincial estate and family laws.

Wills - Facts 5.4 million adults do not know where to begin when it comes to writing a will. Around 54% of adults do not have a will. Six in 10 (59%) parents do not have a will, or have one that is out of date.

Wills – Facts - Gifts $12m to a dog In 2004, billionaire hotelier Leona Helmsley left instructions for her $4bn (£2.5bn) fortune to be spent caring for dogs, having apparently re-thought an earlier draft that left it to the poor. Her nine-year-old Maltese, Trouble, received $12m (£8m) in the will, with her grandchildren either cut out or ordered to visit their father’s grave annually in order to inherit their share.

LPA’s - History EPA – Pre 2007 LPA – Post 2007

LPA A lasting power of attorney ( LPA ) is a legal document that lets you (the 'donor') appoint one or more people (known as 'attorneys') to help you make decisions or to make decisions on your behalf. ... There are 2 types of LPA : Health & Welfare. Property & Financial affairs.

LPA’s – What They Can Be Used For Financial & Property LPA appoints someone to take care of your assets & finances.  eg: Pay your mortgage and bills Sell your property Collecting pensions, wages or benefits Manage your investment portfolio   Health & Welfare LPA entitles you to appoint someone to make decisions for you regarding your health & living arrangements.  eg: Decide where you live Administer medication Manage your diet, clothes and day to day schedule

LPAs - Facts By 2021 there will be over one million people in the UK suffering from dementia.  1 in 20 people over the age of 65 years will develop dementia, and this figure continues to rise with age, with 1 in 5 people over 80 years suffering from the disease.

Funeral Plans

Rising Funeral Costs

Funeral Plans - Facts The average cost of a basic funeral now stands at £4,078, up nearly 5% since the 2016 Sun Life Cost of Dying report and-an increase of over 232% since the 1997 report estimates suggest that by 2024 a funeral will cost, on average, between £7,000 and £10,000.
