Contextually, the rivalry between Napoleon and Snowball is given much greater impact when we take into account the bitter feud between Stalin and Trotsky, which ended in Trotsky’s exile and assassination, which enabled Stalin to rule virtually unopposed in the USSR. Contextually, the Battle of Napoleon’s Windmill is given much greater impact when we take into account Hitler’s invasion of the USSR during World War 2, and the terrible destruction of cities such as Stalingrad and the huge cost in human lives which the Soviets suffered. Contextually, the treatment of Boxer given much greater impact when we take into account Stalin’s brutal regime which exploited the loyalty of the Soviet Proletariat (workers).
