What is it? The Management of information in an organization, from planning and systems development to disposal and/or long-term preservation.. Each member across the global supply chain need to communicate with various members. Members requires instant access to information. To be an effective supply chain manager must rely on information technology(I.T) Its purpose is to design, develop, manage, and use information with insight and innovation. support decision making and create value for individuals, organizations, communities, and societies.

When is it used? ALL THE TIME!!!

Why is it all the time?? Since it is used to transfer information to various members of the chain, it is used constantly It is relied upon It is used when there is information to transfer which is all time time. Examples: Stocks Supplies Daily communication Airline Scheduling and Maintenance Accounting Marketing

Why is it important? Information management can supply each link in the chain with daily production and distribution and schedules so the other links can operate more effectively and efficiently. Just in Time (JiT) When a supplier knows exactly when its product is required as part of the production process, and has transport companies on the network that are made aware at the same moment that a shipment is ready.
