Down the street from our church is a man who is daily at his post selling his newspapers. He is a Christian, and it shines in his face. He is never sad. He is always smiling, and he has a happy word for me every time I pass him.

He is not rich. He is not beautifully clothed. He has little of this world’s goods. But he is happy in the Lord!

He is a living demonstration of what God can do for a human soul. We ought always to be like that.

God is never discouraged. He has the burden of the whole human race upon His heart as well as the sovereign responsibility for the course of all human history.

Yet He remains the fountain of hope and the unfailing source of all spiritual blessing.
