Countryside and land management Biodiversity Heritage assets Infrastructure for events and opportunities for leisure Support for and thriving businesses offering desirable goods and services

Cyngor Sir Ddinbych a Thwristiaeth Denbighshire Council and Tourism Corporate Plan Objective 4: ‘The Environment is Attractive and protected, supporting well being and prosperity’ Includes key objectives to: Increase the biodiversity quality of important habitats and species across the County Raise the profile of the County as a location to visit, in order to capitalise on Denbighshire’s economic potential

Cydnabod effaith Twristiaeth ar Ein Heconomi Recognising Tourism’s Impact on Our Economy Our Economic and Community Ambition Strategy 2013-2023 recognises tourism as a key sector in the County with opportunities for further growth There are also opportunities to link to the wider wellbeing/ ‘Healthier Wales’ priorities and the Future Generations Act

Y Strategaeth Dwristiaeth-Ein Hegwyddorion The Tourism Strategy - Our Principles The strategy will be underpinned by the principles of sustainability and collaboration We will be seeking to improve the County’s economic, social, environmental and cultural well being without creating a negative impact for future generations This applies to all of the Councils work, including tourism – we should not be jeopardising the assets that attract people to come here in the first place

People visit our County throughout the year Twristiaeth Sir Ddinbych – Yr hyn y Byddem yn Gobeithio ei Gyflawni Denbighshire Tourism – What we Would Hope to Achieve People visit our County throughout the year People stay in Denbighshire longer People spend more money when they are here

‘Pleseru'r Dorf’ ‘Crowd Pullers’ To achieve these objectives we will focus on the geographic ‘crowd pullers’ to attract people to the County: Rhyl, including the new SC2 attraction Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB, including Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site Llangollen The Vale of Clwyd

Themâu Darganfod Discovery Themes We will promote our tourism around a number of themes: Active and Adventure Tourism Historic Towns and Heritage Tourism Food and Drink Tourism Picturesque Landscapes

Ein Dull o Wneud hyn Ddigwydd o fewn y Cyngor Our Approach to Making this Happen within the Council Asset Management: Sustainably managing and investing in our assets to make them accessible and attractive to visitors Destination Management: Bringing to bear the Council’s resources to make the visitor’s experience of the County a pleasurable one Business Development: Working with and for existing businesses and supporting inward investment to help achieve our ambition for the County Destination Marketing: Developing and delivering marketing products to help us achieve our desired outcomes

Cyfleoedd i'n Gweithlu Opportunities for Our Workforce The North Wales Growth Bid, through the North Wales Economic Ambition Board has a project ‘strand’ around land-based and tourism developments Of particular interest is the potential to develop a Tourism and Hospitality Centre of Excellence at Coleg Llandrillo, connected to a number of strategic training and development facilities within the tourism sector across the region This is a potential £16.25m investment

Cyflawni ein Strategaeth Delivering our Strategy A set of KPIs will be established, monitored and reported Delivery will be overseen by a Tourism Oversight Group, which will include members from the Destination Management Partnership Important that we maintain our focus as a ‘scatter gun’ approach will spread resources too thinly
