Content EMEP POP passive measurement campaign Revision of Data quality objectives (DQO) Observation data reporting and provision to users
EMEP POP passive measurement campaign (2006 and 2016) EMEP Passive air samplers summer 2006 (Halse et al., 2011) Repeat 2006 campaign this summer (2016) Deployed for 3 months PCBs, HCHs, DDTs, HCB, PAHs and chlordanes 93 sites in 39 countries (7 more than in 2006)
Data quality objectives, level 1 Significant development for advanced measurements (EUSAAR/ACTRIS) inorganic Heavy metals 10% accuracy or better for oxidized sulfur and oxidized nitrogen in single analysis in the laboratory 15% accuracy or better for other components in the laboratory 0.1 units for pH 15-25% uncertainty for the combined sampling and chemical analysis (components to be specified later) 90% data completeness of the daily values Data quality is not evolving in line with what could be expected The DQOs do not reflect the present need for accuracy
Lab intercomparisons annually Inorganics per cent dev. from expected value heavy metals > DQO > 2x DQO
Now possible to link data in the database with lab performance, but not broadly discussed how to best do this inorganic data Heavy metal data EC OC data
Technical Workshop autumn 2016 CCC sent an email to all Parties to review the needs on technical workshop on the topics: Data quality (lab and field methods), and defining new data quality objectives Data handling and data submission Defining new templates for POPs and HM interests in attendance received from: Armenia, Belgium, Czech rep, France, Hungary, Georgia, Iceland, Slovenia. more responses from participants to TFMM welcome
Some open questions and remarks Is there a need to update the DQO and if yes, how? A workshop is autumn on data handling and submission incl how to best include metadata on data quality Input on specific metadata for POPs and HMs is highly appreciated Please contact the CCC after TFMM with your views and suggestions.
The total number of visits to EBAS web interface is 51 350 from more than 90 countries since 2011 (end 2015)
Transfer of Reactive gases data from WDCGG (JMA) to NILU -> establishment of the GAW-WDCRG.ORG Follows the GAW-WDCA arrangement Joint EMEP + GAW sites: affiliation of data
New data reporting templates in progress Towards a streamlined data reporting portal at EBAS (ebas-submit.nilu.no) New data reporting templates in progress More extensive documentation of meta-data (instrument specific, data originator etc) Updated: aerosols, VOC, O3 Resubmission of historic data? Launch of the EBAS-submit tool for file format checking upon data submission http://ebas-submit-tool.nilu.no
Online http://ebas-submit-tool.nilu.no
Other developments at EBAS Open Archives Initiatives-Protocol Metadata Harwest (OAI-PMH) server established (WMO WIS Data Collection Production Centre compliant) Data versioning functionality Considerations wrt to DOI support Secondary portals is still a challenge
Collaboration with RECETOX in relation to POPs data, Global Monitoring Plan - Data Warehouse
Increased Arctic focus; Collaboration with AMAP, IASOA and SAON.
Copernicus Atmospheric Monitoring Service (CAMS) and EMEP NRT No formal data provision (yet?) «Arctic pilot» (IASOA ozone assessment)
NRT data viewer available soon at: http://ebas-nrt-showcase.nilu.no !
