While the page opens, mention that your objective is to present ISA member benefits available on the web page. 2) Find there the Benefits page, within the Membership menu on the left column. While the benefits page opens mention that most of the benefits you will present are available on line 24/7 via the internet. 3) Now we will just go through most of teh benefits, clicking in the corresponding links. Lets start with the automation standards. Note: Due to the reduction of some benefits it may happen that you face some ISA members skeptic about the ISA benefits. Many ISA members consider the paper Intech and standards download as the main ISA benefits. This presentation should allow you to prove that this skepticism is not justified, that this benefits reduction is not as initially understood, and that not only those benefits just changed of appearance and are still available, but also that many other benefits are available and not used by members. These comments are more appropriated in a pure ISA members meeting.

A good starting point for the coming discussion: Read the note about copyright, immediately below the “Access ISA standards” button. At this time, just mention that copyright, later it will be the right time about this “detail”.

When ISA made available for free the standards, downloading them was the most logic technology. But this option does not allows members to share those downloads, as they are free for personal use and not to be send to others or be used by companies. Companies wanting to use those standards (including the ones where the members work) should buy those standards, available for non members and organization at published prices. Companies may find interesting to buy those standards using the IHS button that leads to ISA partner for standards selling, IHS. Currently the online access to information becomes more and more used. Studies show that download sites (from legal on line downloads to pirate torrents) are being displaced by on line availability of information, like streaming. This trend is particularly strong in younger professionals. Also this technology reflects better the spirit of the availability of the standards to members, allowing free full access but not facility for sharing. The move from standard download to on line access simple reflects this change of trend, adapting the tool to the technology trends and the copyright spirit. Still so, ISA offers the member standards download with a value equivalent to its yearly membership cost. This still can be useful for professionals wanting an off line access to some specific standards. But if a professional wants off line access (download) in excess to that value the standard must be bought.
