Figure 1 The odds ratio (OR) overestimates the relative risk (RR) to a greater degree when the outcome is common. If smoking increases the risk of adenoma formation and does not influences other steps of neoplastic progression, then the RR for adenomas will equal the RR for colorectal cancer (CRC).
