Small movements of the hand are referred to as fine motor skills. Here are some suggestions of activities to help your child build his/her fine motor skills: finger plays, cutting, stringing beads or buttons, Legos, Play-Doh, squeezing wet sponges, sidewalk chalk, tracing letters in the snow or sand, using short crayons, and finger painting.
