Presentation transcript:

Review Chapter 5 Review homework assignment. Know the different kinds of enzyme inhibition. Understand how feedback inhibition works. For enzyme classes, know what they do, ie oxidize and reduce, or transfer functional groups.

Chapter 6 Be able to define Microbial growth. Know how to classify organisms by growth requirements temperature classfications halophile, acidophile Oxygen Requirements, (know enzymes used for dealing with toxic forms of oxygen). Know Chemical Requirements for growth Carbon, Nitrogen, Sulfur, Phosphorus Understand how binary fission works. Know and be able to describe the different phases of the bacterial growth curve.

Chapter 7 Know terminology-sepsis, asepsis, sterilization, commercial sterilization, disinfection, antisepsis, degerming, sanitization, bacteriostasis, biocide/germcide. Know three ways antimicrobial agents damage cells. Know an autoclave uses moist heat which denatures proteins. Know the different forms of pasteurization. Know at least three physical methods of controlling microbial growth and how they work. Know at least three chemical methods of controlling microbial growth and how they work.
