SAWT Teaching Artists: Adam Tutor, Dr. Aurelia Rocha Fun, joyful learning with the arts. Cutting edge, Teacher Professional development

San Antonio Wolf Trap Early Learning Through the Arts Institute is an educational program of theArtsFund.  San Antonio Wolf Trap Teaching Artists work in the classroom, with teachers, during 8 week/16-session residencies.  This learning partnership provides critical tools for classroom teachers to improve school readiness of Pre-K students.

The cornerstone of SAWT begins with engagement and participation The cornerstone of SAWT begins with engagement and participation. Creativity and imagination is the key. During classroom residencies, a trained Teaching Artist works side- by-side with each teacher to develop lesson plans and customize the residency to the needs of the teacher and the class.

Effective Learning is Remembered This arts-based teaching method taps into children’s innate desire for active, multisensory learning — children sing, dance and engage their imagination through puppetry, story dramatization, and role play.

The Arts Reach and Teach!  The Wolf Trap method practice skills such as communication, creativity, collaboration, cooperation, and flexible thinking.

Learning Together is More Meaningful Learning. Preparing our children for a lifetime of learning by giving them arts experiences that connect subjects across the curriculum.

Parent involvement, student engagement at a whole new level. “The Wolf Trap method is the golden key to engaging a child’s curiosity and imagination in a focused, fresh, and fun manner.” SA Wolf Trap Teaching Artist- Joy Jimenez, San Antonio

Teachers need effective tools to set children up for success. “The strategies that I was taught will last a lifetime.” -Ms.Kristie Robles, Hidden Cove , SWISD

Giving Children the best possible start in school and life The power of the performing arts empowers Educators and Parents.

Strengthening the Connection between Teachers, Parents and Students. Our community serves many children whose families face a myriad of challenges. With Wolf Trap Institute, we can continue to ensure quality early childhood experiences in the classroom.

With the Arts Learning becomes Interactive! San Antonio Wolf Trap methods increase enthusiasm for learning.

Music Moves Bodies and Brains “Students who participated in SA Wolf Trap residencies are showing comprehension skills much sooner than my students from previous years.” -Ms. Manar East Central ISD
