Parents with Disabilities Pilot Program Update Community Advisory Committee Tuesday, May 14, 2019

Program Features Paratransit with modifications for child-care transportation: Linked Trips Reduced Fare Limited Same Day Trips Trips Scheduled to Arrival Extended Dwell Times (10 minutes / 20 minutes) Non Share Ride service Beyond the Curb service Available in the Northern Region only Gives parents the opportunity to ensure their childrens' education, health, and social needs Kevin to present

Current Status PWD Trips Provided (Total & Year 2018) 29,102 / 6,134 Average Trips 511 / Month Average Trip Time (2018) 33 minutes Average Trip Length (2018) 5.25 miles Peak Times 24% Trips made between 7:00 am- 9:00 am 26% Trips made between 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Kevin to present

Program Findings Education Health Social trips School trips make up a total of 54% of all PWD trips Linked trips improve school drop-offs and pick-ups Same day trips in instances of non-emergency health issues (Accounted for 4% of all PWD trips) Provides convenient means of transportation to hospitals/ doctors Social events (ex. After-school activities) made possible 98% on time performance Eric to discuss discoveries from the Pilot program’s operation

Program Update Customer Meetings 14 meetings since July 2018, attended by two-thirds of the active customers Gathered testimonials and video interviews from PWD customers Worked to develop a partnership press kit Eric to discuss activities carried out since June 2018 Board meeting to present (slide 1 of 2)

Program Update LAUSD meetings With Board and Executive Levels Able to convey the benefits of an Access-LASUD partnership – to increase student attendance & school funds LAUSD discussions delayed due to labor negotiations and January 2019 strike Eric to discuss activities carried out since June 2018 Board meeting to present (slide 2 of 2)

Next Steps Service extension 7/1/19 to 6/30/20 with MV Transportation Authorized total of $375,000 for trip expenses Operate in current form until brokerage model launch & program expansion Efforts to develop PWD partnerships to ongoing Eric to discuss current future of PWD program
