But in essence the solution reprensents a Network, therefore the name Media Network Solution. It is a full mesh, hubless network, which provides any to any connectivity between the nodes. As you can see here, it it used to provide backbone connectivity between affiliate sites, such as NBC is using the solution today. And at the same time it is used to provide access to the backbone and allows contribution from the vehicles, flyaways or other fixed sites, which could be remote bureaus or field offices as an example. There are many different scenarios possible: One is, that this is a dedicated network, which is operated by a single broadcaster. The contribution most likely is done to a production center, let’s say at the west coast of the United States as an example. But maybe the requirement is to bring that content at the same time to another location, an affiliate site or a second east coast producation and distribution center. The proposed solution uniquely allows you to do so by broadcasting, or using the IP terminology, multicasting the content to all the hub sites, which have an interest in it, simultaneously. You see here one antenna, which is marked in yellow. Having a network with such mesh capabilities, it is easily possible for a Service Provide, as in this case SES Americom, to provide a back-up service to all the broadcasters using the network. Because with a mesh topology the content can be simultaneously terminated at the Service Provider hub and than be forwarded to the final destination either by a terrestrial or by the SkyWAN backbone shown here. It is also very important to mention that there are different management capabilities offered by the solution. As in the previous example: SES Americom could manage the network, but the individual broadcaster would still be able to fully control or at least monitor their own portion of the network using their own NMS system. In our design, the NMS is a tool, which can be located at any or all locations just as it is practical and required. This is truly a unique feature. Again another scenario could be, that the overall network is shared by many different entities or broadcasters. Each entity is using a portion of that network in a VPN environment. I have mentioned that already before. What it means is, that you can share resources in such an environment, in a very controlled way. You can have interoperability but only as far as you want to share and open up the network for others. By this decentralised approach and with the capability to bring the content to any node within the network, the solution also offers a unique and built in redundancy concept. Because, if one of your hubs fails or is affected by severe rain fade, or a power outage, it is possible to terminate the traffic at another hub. This is very important no matter if we talk about voice services or high data rate content contribution.
