Yom Kippur Yom Kippur is a very special day for Jews all around the world. Yom Kippur means Day of Atonement and this means a day to ask for forgiveness from God for any bad things that you might have done in the year gone by…

In the days leading up to Yom Kippur, Jews will apologise to people they might have upset or hurt, so that when the special day comes, God will forgive them for their wrongdoings…

On this special day there are 5 prayer services in the synagogue At the end of the day the priest blows the shofar to tell people that Yom Kippur is finished. Jews go to the synagogue to pray for forgiveness The priest sounds the shofar

For Yom Kippur Jews… Fast for 25 hours, Do not wear leather Shoes, Do not wear make up or Perfume, Do not bathe... Jews may also wear something white to show cleanliness.
