Please insert a picture here related to your initiative/solution Fresh Air Bike Paths Innovation Please insert a picture here related to your initiative/solution We aim to tackle personal exposure to street level pollution by providing real time air quality data for urban cyclists gathered from open city data sources, the region’s meteorological data, live traffic data and our own air quality and microenvironment sensors. Design approach We will employ numerous rapid prototyping techniques for e.g. to assess the various approaches to using a mobile sensor instrument on bikes. To decide on best data delivery strategies (app, alerts, route plan etc.) we will engage with superusers of cycles and citizens in the neighborhood using participatory design methods to co-design the framework. 2

Fresh Air Bike Paths Relation to the urbanscape Scaling up prospects The pilot is with residents in the neighborhood Christianshavn which incidentally has a high uptake of cargo bikes and young families with children who bike across the city. The local news channel & high school for this neighborhood also has shown support for the idea. The solution is focused on citizen engagement models via local residents and their cycling habits. Scaling up prospects We need a critical mass of users engaged in the pilot so that we can deploy enough air quality measuring instruments and thus sufficient volume of data. To scale beyond a pilot, we will offer our air quality sensor for sale that can be fitted onto bikes. The possibility of easily buying a plug and play device and join a community makes the whole concept durable. The impact is multi-fold as it will inform and engage local communities in a change-initiative. 3
