Arnold Baker What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I would like Warner Brothers to distribute my media product because they have distributed movies with the same audience as mine and using the same audience pleasures. Warner Brothers are one of the big 6 companies so they have a huge name for themselves meaning that they have easy access to advertise my film and expand it’s reach. These are even variations of the warner brothers logo that fit my film opening perfectly. (Seen below)

But I would say Fox Searchlight Pictures would be best to distribute my media product as they usually distribute independent films which mine is. Fox also has distributed other films in the same genre just like Black Swan, 28 Days Later, Street Kings which is film noir as is mine.

My media product is a Thriller neo noir movie based around a detective trying to find a serial killer with the evidence he leaves behind, not realising that he is the killer himself. Due to his schizophrenia he commits a crime during the evening and forgets about it in the morning. I think Fox would be the best company to distribute my media product as my main target audience is between 18-35 year olds who like cognitive and sensory pleasures. As they do distribute independent films it would help out my movie.

The only problem with Fox Searchlight is that I would lose profit, as they would take a large cut of the money whereas Warner Brothers would not take as much as they are a much bigger company. With Warner Brothers they have distributed film similar to my final product such as The Dark Knight, Sweeny Todd, Watchmen, Sherlock Holmes and more.
