Supporting UCAAT in the long run Friends of UCAAT Supporting UCAAT in the long run

Motivation UCAAT is currently running under ETSI umbrella There have been difficulties in the past years threatening ist existence Long term view to support UCAAT  Setup supporting organisation in Germany to provide a framework and background help for running UCAAT independently

Options Setup a registered association („Verein“) Name: Friends of UCAAT Purpose: To support UCAAT in promotion, running and financial dealings. Members: at least 7 (needed for forming the club) Would take on resposibilities which the host cannot or doesn‘t want to.

Advantages of a club The association is tax-privileged or even completely tax-free. The management is democratically elected, all decisions are taken by the General Assembly by majority vote. The bureaucratic cost of managing an association is much lower compared to an economic company. Initiatives recognized as not-for-profit can often benefit from public resources or free of charge. There are often public support and support for non-profit organizations (such as support and placement of staff). Subsidies, federal funding or EU funding are available to non-profit-making initiatives.

Cost Cost of the founding of the association Notary fee for the authentication of the application (about 25.00 Euro plus writing and delivery charges) Registration fee for registration with the competent district court (approx. EUR 50) The announcement of registration (between 10 and 30 Euro)

Alternative legal form: the gGmbH The gGmbH - oder gemeinnützige GmbH - is an ordinary GmbH, which however pursues an exclusively non-profit purpose. They are also available as gUG (limited liability) according to the new GmbH Guidelines. In practice, the most important advantage is that the club board does not lead the company, but a fixed, non-changing management. This means, above all, in cooperation with business enterprises, more transparency for the economic partners, more predictability of the decisions and more recognition in the economic world.

Next steps Decision to proceed Decision on legal form Initial 7 members Clear definition of purpose And off we go ……….
