A Royal Wedding, A Sermon on Love, and the Irony of it All A recent royal wedding in England represented all that the world values in a wedding: a handsome couple, famous guests, a beautiful setting in a famous “church” with the world watching. But a closer look leads us to conclude that there may have been some flaws in this wedding, and that there is another royal wedding which is more glorious and quintessentially beautiful. What is the word of the King? On Divorce & remarriage Matthew 19:9 “And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery." Luke 16:18, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced from her husband commits adultery.” Mark 10:12 “And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery."
What is the word of the King? On love John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:23-24 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word…He who does not love Me does not keep My words…” 1 John 5:2-3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.” 1 Corinthians 13:6 “[Love] does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth.”
Joy or Sorrow? Our attitudes toward the things of this world define us (1 John 2:15; Revelation 18:1—19:5) Those who will participate in the ultimate royal wedding have prepared themselves not with worldly riches, pleasures, luxuries, or accomplishments…but with righteousness! They have done the will of the King! (Revelation 19:6-9)
