“The Black Cat” Mind Reader Assignment Directions: Draw the profile or outline of a head on your piece of paper and complete the following assignment:   1. Draw four pictures on the inside of the head that represent or symbolize the character who this character is. What are his character traits? Your pictures should symbolize his character traits.    2. On the outside of the profile of your head, find four quotes taken from the story that show the character’s personality. Explain what personality trait you think this quote shows. Number each corresponding picture and quote. For example the quote that goes with your number one picture should have the number one beside it too. 3. After you finish, think about why Edgar Allan Poe created so many different personality traits within the same story. Think about the characterization of the narrator. Remember this story is told from the first person point of view: Explain your opinion of each question below. Do not just answer yes or no. Is he a reliable narrator? Is the narrator a nice person? Is the narrator of stable mind?
