DRAFT IVECO DAILY Tachograph DSRC antenna installation requirements basic info for Body Builders 05-10-2018

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION DSRC Antenna installation requirements General description The DSRC antenna for tachograph is legally required for DTCO 4 functionality. Iveco provides the adhesive antenna already connected also on chassis cowl vehicles. Iveco provides connection coaxial cable of the maximum allowed length (6 m). It is Body Builder responsibility to install the DSRC antenna in the correct position on windscreen to meet legal requirements. Refer to Continental installation requirements document (1381R4.-.CUMA.DSRC-Installation-Description.pdf). The antenna legal functionality will be tested and released during tachograph calibration process at vehicle registration.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION Max antenna working angle: ± 45° DSRC Antenna installation requirements Max antenna working angle: ± 45° Max distance from Y0: ±100 mm Antenna boresight 45° Max z position To be calculated by Body Builder Max: 2 m Suggested: <1 m Street level Max: 2 m Suggested: <1 m

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION DSRC Antenna mounting requirements Mounting the DSRC antenna with adhesive tape The area of the windscreen covered by the adhesive tape shall be flat. Curving of the glass should not cause an unevenness of more than 0.3mm for the mounting area. Areas with markings, printing or coating in the mounting area should be avoided. If unavoidable, consequences for mounting strength should be evaluated. The area of the windscreen where the DSRC antenna is to be mounted should be free from dust, grease other contaminations. The windscreen mounting area may be cleaned with a 50:50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water prior to mounting. As such mixture contains volatile organic compounds, sufficient ventilation should be ensured. The windscreen and the DSRC antenna should both have a temperature between +15°C and 30°C during installation. Installation Procedure Remove cover tape from the DSRC antenna adhesive tape Apply the DSRC antenna on the windscreen at the correct position Press the DSRC antenna to the with a force of at least 100kPa, corresponding to about 120N for the tape surface area. Keep the pressure on the DSRC antenna for at least 10 seconds.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION DSRC Antenna installation requirements Additional info It is possible to reduce the cable length removing the 1,7 m or the 2,5 m cable parts with plug&play connectors. Connections longer than 6 m from tachograph to antenna are not allowed. The exceeding cable part must be routed in safe area avoiding ‘coil’ effect. The antenna must be installed in a position cleaned by wipers and free from any conductive material, if placed in lower side of windscreen double check wipers position to avoid interferences.
