Innovation Design approach aDOORable Innovation The initiative uses a participatory approach to engage citizens and stakeholders in cultural heritage preservation. Through connecting actors from all sides and levels we aim to ensure that decisions about heritage happen faster and with the right expertise. Design approach We develop a design methodology that focuses on cultural awareness and involvement. We are using Design Тhinking to construct a participatory process to validate ideas. We seek the involvement of owners, institutions, experts and citizens.

Relation to the urbanscape Scaling up prospects aDOORable Relation to the urbanscape Loss of historical consciousness and cultural identity leads to low civic engagement with cultural heritage and the urban environment. Our initiative uses an innovative approach to provokе more interest in the preservation of architectural heritage in the district of Talyana in Varna, Bulgaria. Through public events and discussions, we create a favorable and positive environment for better communication and understanding by bringing all stakeholders under one roof and building bridges between them. Scaling up prospects The methodology can scale successfully in the city as well as across the country. It could resolve the cultural heritage crisis in Bulgaria. A different approach that puts people at the centre and improves communication between them is a key factor in our process. The network development model that we use could be transferred to other countries, but the legal framework defining heritage restoration processes would require adaptation.
