Rights and Responsibilities in the USA The rights of American citizens are set out in a series of Amendments to the Constitution called The Bill of Rights

The Responsibilities of US citizens obey the law respect the rights of others participate in the democracy of the country (NB this is not compulsory) to pay taxes
How the Constitution Protects the rights of US citizens They are part of the Constitution so people can take legal action if they are denied them people can take ‘political’ action - i.e. use their right to participate, e.g. protests, demonstrations etc. the highest court in the land - The Supreme Court - protects the rights of US citizens
