LESANZ External Communication Program LESANZ first engaged Buchan in 2007 to profile our annual conference and speakers in the media. LESANZ entered a three-year communication consultancy agreement (AU$35k pa) with Buchan Consulting in 2010 to go beyond the annual conference, and build LESANZ’s profile holistically, by: Responding to innovation policy in the media Creating thought leadership on innovation and commercialisation, including opinion pieces, media releases, letters to the editor and targeted media pitches. Developing media partnerships for ongoing LESANZ contributions Develop the LESANZ Brand in the commercialisation/IP space www.lesanz.org.au

External Program 2011 In 2011, LESANZ has commented on: Creating a holistic Australian innovation system and IP strategy Gene patenting debate Proposed Research & Development Tax Credits Lack of funding or adequate policy for innovation development in Australia The need for better commercialisation and collaboration for universities and research institutions General best practice advice for businesses looking to increase innovation output and outcomes Creating a true knowledge economy that will last after the Australian mining boom goes bust www.lesanz.org.au
