Reporting Structure for Authorship Dispute Mediation B. Status of individuals involved in authorship dispute OUHSC Authorities to Mediate Authorship Dispute Division or Department College Institution 1st Authority to Mediate If 1st Authority cannot resolve, bring to 2nd Authority If 2nd Authority cannot resolve, bring to 3rd Authority If 3rd Authority cannot resolve, bring to 4th Authority Same Department Chair Associate Dean for Research College Dean Vice President for Research Different ----- Authorship Dispute Mediation Process at OUHSC. If an authorship dispute cannot be resolved directly with collaborators and co-authors, the situation should be discussed with the next appropriate level of authority at OUHSC until a resolution is made (Figure A). Unresolved authorship disputes involving OUHSC faculty or staff from different divisions/departments should be mediated by the next authority to whom both individuals report (i.e. Associate Dean for Research, then Dean); the OUHSC Vice President for Research will mediate disputes involving individuals at OUHSC from different colleges or involving individuals from external institutions (Table B).
