Common Mistakes SUMMARY. SUMMARY. SUMMARY. Not talking about “The Pedestrian” in your commentary – going too beyond and talking about technology in our society and us as human beings. THIRD PERSON ONLY! I, ME, US, OUR, YOU, YOUR – DO NOT USE THESE!!! ASSUMPTIONS “Bradbury believes that technology is going to the ruin of mankind… Bradbury hates television…” “Leonard Mead hates television…” QUOTE CHOICE! Verb tenses Word choice – this is a FORMAL writing, not a FB status. Common Mistakes

Anthem SARs

Forced equality causes people to lose their sense of individuality and ego. Society instills fear in the all men, causing “[their] shoulders [to be] hunched…as if their bodies [are] shrinking and [wish] to shrink out of sight” (Rand 29). Forced equality causes people to fear their ideas and anything that sets them apart from others. Their fear of being different makes them bland and not unique. -Not answering the question. Not enough commentary (weaker). Quote is not supportive of A & C.

Forced equality is not a good idea because it takes away individual thoughts, free will, and uniqueness. Equality believes his old society is corrupt and wonders ‘what is [his] joy if all hands… can reach into it? What is [his] wisdom if even the fools can dictate to [him]?...what is [his] life if [he is] but to bow, to agree and to obey [to others in his society]’ (Rand 97). Forced equality requires people to work for others’ benefit instead of their own. Equality 7-2521 realizes that there is no point to an individual’s abilities if it is to be controlled by others, or a larger body. In their collective society plagued with forced equality, one’s success is the success of all, but one’s failure can lead the whole society into downfall. -Not perfect, a bit redundant (esp with quote), but a really solid answer

-Not actually talking about Anthem Forced equality takes away the people of a community’s individuality. The people have no say in any decisions because “…the councils are the voice of all justice [and] the voice of all men” (Rand 22). The group of men who are part of the council choose everything such as jobs, names, and behavior for society. Because of such a controlled environment, no one has a mind of their own and cannot do anything without relying on their brothers. Forced equality takes away the traits of being a human being. -Not actually talking about Anthem

-Two quotes used well. Picked the other side. After reading Anthem, it is clear that forced equality is ideal. Equality 7-2521 says, “there are no men, but only the great we… we are on in all and all in one… One, indivisible and forever” (Rand 19). With this equality comes unity, where each man supports the other in the society. Unity allows society to achieve greater things together, rather than a simplistic accomplishment alone. Everyone repeats the prayer that “we are nothing. Mankind is all… by the grace of our brothers ware we allowed our lives” (Rand 21). Although individuality provides the community with various minds, a society can thrive better when everyone is equal. -Two quotes used well. Picked the other side.

How does Equality feel upon being named a street sweeper? Try NOT to use words like “bad” “mad” “sad” etc. YOU MUST BLEND YOUR QUOTE! (I will put acceptable answers for this question online tonight if you want to see some ideas!) New Question
