BaBar LST Upgrade Richard F Boyce Ohio State University Meeting 24-26 April 2003
The BaBar Detector consists of a central barrel with a pair of doors at each end Rear Doors Barrel Forward Doors
A section through the detector shows its complexity
The BaBar Barrel Calorimeter is supported by four cantilevered arms
The 3 and 9 o’clock corner plates support the Barrel Calorimeter Let’s replace the top and bottom chambers
This is the barrel calorimeter support to be removed
The plates sag under gravity load, this increases with the brass load
How much does the detector change shape with the removal of the corner plates? Less than 0.2 mm!
Make a work platform to remove the old RPC’s
