STEAMFEST Goals Show students how these subjects work together: Get more students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics Show students how these subjects work together: The chemistry of painting Technology used for welding The science of glass blowing Math required for weaving
STEAMFEST Activities Seven Lowe Mill artists will give short demonstrations about their work and the STEAM involved. MindGear Labs will have a booth where students construct circuits and make stop motion animation. GetSmarterEveryDay will do a demonstration of a Prince Rupert’s Drop (behind a plexiglass shield for safety).
STEAMFEST Activities (continued) A pool of oobleck (a non-Newtonian fluid) will be there for students to run across. Just don’t stop! A robot paintbrush will allow students to create artwork at a distance using an ipad to control the paint. Huntsville Electro-Optical Society will do a demonstration on lasers and optics. Intuitive Labs will run a virtual reality booth showcasing Occulus Rift.
